Sure it did. How many of those years did the SEC have 2 teams in the NC game? How many years did they have at least 1 team in the NC game? All of that was based on rankings, which (at least in part) is based on perception of the conference. Who is to say that the best 2 teams were always in the NC game?

Look no further than last year. If it was a BCS year, who would have matched up in the NC game? Be honest. Alabama and FSU. No doubt about it. Unbeaten FSU (despite playing like crap more often than not) would have met SEC champion because it is the best conference. Bama would have trounced FSU, and the narrative would have continued: "SEC is King!"

But what actually happened? Both of those teams were eliminated in the first round and we had a PAC-12 vs. Big 10 matchup, with OSU winning it all.

Don't get me wrong, the SEC is a great conference. Every year it is in the top 3. But I think that a dumb system (BCS) allowed them the possibility to look even better than they are. Last year's tournament and bowl games helped show that they aren't so far out in front (if at all).
