reminds me of when my oldest son was about 11, we were carpooling to a game with another dad on the same travel ball team. This guy LOVED everything about baseball and especially baseball history. He was telling my son about "Mordecai Brown" when my son goes, "you mean Three-Fingered Brown, the HOF'er? He had one of the best sinkers ever."
The other dad was literally speechless for about 10 seconds and then just started to laugh. He loved my son from then on and told that story over and over.
My sons learned to read by reading sports picture books and then later biographies. Baseball HOF'ers, greatest QBs of all time, biographies of Steve Young and Peyton Manning, etc.
