U8 Bantam draft last night
So I've got a boys playing in U8 and U10 this year. I will be coaching both.

A couple of weeks ago I asked one of the guys (the new YM president) in the ward who has a child the exact same age (to the day) as my 9 year old, if he want to co-coach with me. He turned me down politely saying they were either teaming up with another family from their last (neighboring) ward, or they may go the t-ball route.

So the U10 draft comes and goes, and I don't see his kid on the draft list anywhere and I figure they decided on t-ball. Then last night, I go to the U8 draft and first thing I see on the list is his kid's name at the very top as the highest rated player in the draft with the date of birth adjusted by 8 months to fall within the cutoffs. Then sitting next to me is a female claiming the YMP is her assistant coach and his son will be on her team.

I texted the YWP, "So I see you're co-coaching afterall," just to see what he'd say. His response, "No, she's just saying that to lock up my boy for the roster."

So not only did they lie about their son's age to get him into a lower league, they lied about assisting so the best rated player would end up on the team they wanted.

It was a little disappointing to see. Tough when people who are supposed to be the best examples are being dishonest.

I guess what frustrates me the most about it is they live right around the corner from us (as opposed to 45 minutes away from this other family), could've enrolled their kid in the right league, and gotten him on the team with my boy who he is getting along with extremely well.
