HS football in the South isn't very good to watch....better execution out west
I've been in the South for over 10 years now and I am convinced that the HS football down here is very sloppy compared to out west. Lots of silly penalties in the South which leads me to believe the kids are really unaware of the game. Running QBs who are just athletes, can't throw, can't read defenses. However your population is so much more dense with towns all over that the universities in the south can throw out a net and scarf up a plethora of athletes for the next level.

Juxtapose that to out West. The football is so much better because the QB play requires a field general. A guy who can actually read a defense and make throws. The South is just chaos...everybody lining up there big, fast Jimmies and Joes and just trying to overpower his opponent. Out west it's X's and O's....more intricate offenses which makes for better football.

However at the end of the day it balances out nicely for the universities. The western schools have smarter and more ready players, but they lack the sheer number of potential athletes that the south has.
