Not trying to diminish anything. And not bull. I'd LOVE to see a tie this year.
And honestly, I'm betting that unless there is, they'll give it to Arrieta, precisely for the reason you (we) stated. I simply think that's wrong.

Arrieta has the better overall strikeouts, complete games, and more wins. Those are great. In large measure, however, they are also situation specific.


Grienke has the best ERA, ERA+ and WHIP - building blocks of a superlative pitcher - and fewer losses, which, in my opinion, means more than higher number wins. He was responsible for the runs that resulted in losses for fewer than 10% of his starts.

This is closer than it's been in a long time, but Greinke had the better season. Arrieta fans can take comfort in knowing that he'll win it anyway.
