His question seems to be more about bowl options than about
conference benefits. While I agree that conference affiliation (P5 only) would be way preferable to Independence, I don't really care about that Utah has more bowl options, because once they lose a couple, they're in the same meh bowl situation.
With the schedules BYU has now (beginning this year), if they win, they have every opportunity Utah has.
But if we're talking about Las Vegas Bowl vs. Holiday Bowl vs. Foster Farms Bowl, which is what the OP mentions, who cares?
