Utah had very little tape to watch and prepare for Michigan. They watched Florida tape to try and guess what kind of defense Michigan would run with its new coordinator. They watched old Stanford tape to try and figure out the kind of offense he would run. The lack of tape required Utah to be very vanilla against Michigan. Every team since Utah could actually prepare and scheme against Michigan.
