Our next door neighbor purchased solar panels last month.
This was somewhat of a surprise since some of our trees cast a shadow on their panels for at least part of the day, as does our house since they live in a one story home and we live in a two story. We also planted some trees last year that will eventually grow much larger than they are now and will also shade their panels in 4-5 years.
Anyway, the neighbor came over and spoke to my wife about cutting down the trees or at least pruning them (on our dime, of course) so they don't shade their panels. My wife told her that while we really weren't particularly fond of the trees that shade her panels, we don't have plans on cutting them down or pruning them for a few years at the earliest, and when we eventually cut them down, we're going to replace them with new trees that will shade her panels.
Neighbor was not happy, but only a moron purchases and installs expensive panels before at least speaking to us about our trees.
