This talk about the Big12 and ACC is simply fabrications
A post referring to "six" Big 12 schools running to the ACC is simply someone's imagination running wild.

The ACC is not going to add six schools, creating a third division or a 20 school conference. Schools in the ACC are not going to further delete their revenues and ties with existing schools to add another six schools.

How on earth would 20 schools possibly come to the many required consensus involving running a conference when considering - at least Texas, Florida State, and Miami's strongholds of opinion. Coming to an agreement on conference schedules, revenue sharing, and TV rights (school owned i.e. BYUTV) to name a few.

A suggestion was made the merger would be for football only. There is no way the Big 12's remaining schools (whoever they may be) could entice enough quality schools to join the conference and be football only participants. If anyone thinks six to eight "quality" schools would jump ship for football only, they are badly mistaken. Especially considering they are likely to be: Iowa state, Kansas, Kansas State, and Texas Tech.

IMO and the opinion of my friend, those conferences (AAC, C-USA, and MWC) impacted would essentially eliminate the defecting school's Olympic sports from participating in the conference. Therefore, these schools would have to find another home for their Olympic sports - or stay where they are today. Stay is the most likely scenario. In addition, if the exit to the ACC is football only, what happens when the existing schools to the ACC return to the Big 12 for Olympic sports play and find (in theory) AFA, BSU, BYU, Cincy, CSU, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, UConn, SDSU, and Texas Tech???? Do you form an 18 school league? Who would have the most influence regarding the Olympic sports? IMO, I would think the defecting schools to the ACC would have far less say than those in all sports. (I mentioned 18 schools as the original post suggested six schools defecting from the Big 12.)

If the rumor was the ACC was planning on creating two divisions of ten schools each, the chances would possibly increase, but only slightly. The ACC will not draw sufficient revenues to support cutting the pie 21 ways (when adding conference administration) and still make everyone happy.

What about the Big 12? If this was remotely a possibility, don't you think the four leftovers would be scrambling already to shore up replacement schools or find somewhere to land (BIG, SEC, or even AAC, C-USA, or MWC)? Wouldn't the leftovers be pushing for expansion in order to save their lives and prepare for TV negotiations? Absolutely! The leftovers would be pushing the other schools for expansion today! Four schools does not constitute a conference per the NCAA and most conferences require over a year at a minimum to notify of any departure. Therefor these schools would be scrambling under code red! These four schools would be pushing the agenda of the Oklahoma's president's as a life or death situation.

My friend in the Big 12 offices didn't even laugh when we spoke of this latest rumor. He just replied; "Really! Who are these people, who dream up this stuff and then feel they have to post it?"

Regarding the Boston College news, this series has been mentioned and would not be considered new news or insider information. By announcing the series, it will appear to give the original poster on expansion some creditability regarding expansion, when it fact it's old news. Sorry.

My friend remains optimistic that BYU will be included in future expansion (not talks but expansion). However, by either TCU or Baylor making the playoffs this season - which appears likely that one will, it could delay expansion (unless) the BIG raids the conference in 2017? By the Big 12 reaching the playoffs and splitting those additional revenues, it will have proven the blueprint correct and the motto will be to "stay the course."
