First some algebra. If you Say A-3=B, you are not "taking away 3" from A in any real sense, you are saying A is 3 more than B. If you say Rose - Jimmer= Cleveland, you aren't "throwing out Jimmer" you are saying Rose is better than Cleveland by "one Jimmer".
Similarly, I could say Majerus - Van Horn - Andre Miller = Rose. I'm not throwing out Van Horn and Miller, I'm saying Majerus was better by a Van horn and a Miller even giving Rose credit for Jimmer. That is a LOT better.
I think NCAA seeds are a pretty good measure of a body of work (I'll even give BYU 2 seeds higher for Sunday play or big conference bias) but by that measure Rose is in the "good" category not great category and Cleveland was pretty good also. How many times have Rose's seeds been better than Cleveland's 3 NCAA seeds?
