A black eye on BYU?

Is this True? I didn't know this -

A student who leaves the church is dismissed from BYU.

I honestly think that is a dumb rule. I honestly support the Professor in this one. Students should have more religious freedom - even freedom to leave the church but stay on campus. But They should then pay the higher rate of tuition.
