Yep mine is 5 also and he came home wanting to buy this "super cool"
yo-yo for $15. He wanted to use his own money that he usually saves up to buy lego sets. We try to educate him and let him make his own decisions but who hasn't made a dumb purchase as a little kid and totally regretted it afterwards? You just hate to see something like that happen. Plus yo-yos never last more than a few days in the hands of a 5yo. We explained that he could get something just as good for a couple of bucks rather than buy from the school and still have some left over. He seemed okay with it once he understood but it just bugs us when they come home thinking something is totally amazing when in reality it is just a cash grab profiting off of impressionable minds and parents that are too nice to say no.
