mentally fragile
Remember last year when he was a jerk with the local media to the point he thought it was funny to pull a Marshawn Lynch toward the end of the season? The reason that was such a big deal was it showed how fragile his psyche was.

Greg Cosell was on KNBR this morning talking Niner football like he does every Wednesday morning during the season. And like almost every Wednesday morning, he spent most of his time talking about Kaepernick. What I like about Cosell is he does not rip on players. Any criticisms are backed up with examples. He probably watches more NFL film than anyone. He said the 49ers worked all week on simple, high success throws for Kaepernick. The first offensive play was scripted. It was a dropback pass with Celek going out 10 yards and sitting in the zone. It was dead center in Kaepernick's field of vision. There was a lane to throw. There wasn't a lot of pressure in the pocket. Celek was wide open. And Kaepernick tucked it and ran 12 yards for a first down. Cosell just finished the critique with "only Colin knows why he didn't throw the ball."

And that is it in a nutshell. Nobody knows what is going on in his head other than it is clear his confidence is shot. Last season people wondered if he was capable of processing info fast enough in the pocket enough to see receivers coming open before they were open and put the ball in the right spot. The question now is "can he even pull the trigger and deliver the ball accurately when the receiver is wide open?" The receivers are getting more and more demonstrative waving their hands while running routes and throwing their hands up in the air after the play is over. Kaepernick is very close to the end as a starting qb in the league.
