His versatile skill set at his size allowed Seattle to more perfectly highlight their stars, and he helped raise the level of their other complimentary guys. He wouldn't have worked as a 1st or 2nd option. But having him be your 3rd ball handler, 3rd best passer, 3rd-4th scoring option...deadly with a guy 6'10".
No idea if he'll get there, but that is my hope for Lyles. His comfort level with his ball handling is already head of the game for a guy his size. He's shown a few passes already that prove he sees the court well and has a good feel. Schrempf didn't add a reliable 3pt shot until he was into his 30s. Lyles will need one much sooner in today's NBA if he wants to see the court more. But he has the game to be a nice guy to slot at back-up PF next to Gobert/Favors at C.
