I bought a 1/2" corded impact driver from Harbor Freight for like $50 or so and was able to take off a 22cm crankshaft nut on my Volvo that was factory. I did have to spray some lubricant but then about 15 seconds of grinding and that thing started to turn. I was very impressed.
