Question for those who either travel or have lived overseas...
I have a number of clients who were born to foreign nationals or are immigrants themselves who were given names customary to where they are from. However the majority of these people will have a name like "Pakshamdepour" or "Yongchun" but they'll ask that I call them Bill or Cindy in these examples.

Do Americans who work or travel overseas do the same? For example... "Hi I'm Jack, but call me Dong Wong" (when in China) or... "Hi I'm Frank but call me Sanyogita" (when in India). Or when in Japan... "Hi I'm Jason, but call me Yoshi".

Just curious.
