Your second statement is not true.
BYU's MBA program wants to see good work history with good accomplishments and career progression, regardless of undergrad major. The vast majority of my classmates were business majors. The non-business majors had a harder time finding jobs, all else equal.
As for your first statement, I have never found that to be the case.
