It is puzzling to me, as well. Taysom has earned the right to be the guy
provided he is healthy. It's that simple. Sure, Hill has to earn his spot like anyone else. But, there should be NO controversy. None. Also, I think it would be a HUGE negative if the coaching staff did anything other than to find a way to give Taysom back the year he lost via a freak injury. Obviously, there are many "what ifs" to be considered, but the main point is that Tanner's progress doesn't erase the fact that Hill was the team leader, team captain, and that he gives BYU the best chance to win (in my opinion). Whether the coaches red shirt Tanner or find a way to include them both, I don't know. But, if Taysom wants to stay, wants to play, they need to work out a way for that to happen. That doesn't mean just giving him the job. It means that Hill earns it back. He would have to earn the job if he transfers somewhere. And, if Hill isn't good enough to beat out Tanner, then perhaps he should hang it up - because that would mean he would not have an NFL future.

I would imagine that having Taysom back for next year's schedule would be a dream come true for Bronco. That's the message he needs to convey to Hill - not the one that many here are advocating - that we need to just help Taysom move on to some other program that needs him, like Michigan, because Tanner is definitely the guy next year.
