Pardon my ignorance, but is there a reason
Texas didn't go hard after Gary Patterson the last go-round?

Does Patterson have an Eric Dickerson-esque hate of the University of Texas that I don't know about?

Otherwise, seems like a win-win. As far as money is concerned, Texas could obviously outmatch any offer TCU could put on the table. And Austin is an objectively better place to live than Ft. Worth (in any event, a few hours down I-35 is not a big move).

Patterson has a proven track record and obviously knows how to recruit in the area (imagine what he could do with Texas' resources).

I know some higher ups in the UT system are very image conscious and may not like the touch of Chris Farley in Patterson's public persona. But this, IMO, should be a non-issue, especially going forward, given the current state of Texas' football program.

If I'm Texas and I can't lure someone like Saban, Patterson seems like a no-brainer.
