Ah, the anti-Halloween crusaders are some of the weirdest - real facebook post
People make their lives way too complicated.

"It's that time of year again. The media and a multitude of other venues promote it, people financially, socially, and emotionally support it, celebrating and giving great influence to the darkest month of the entire year. A time of year that celebrates a season my friend Richard stated "should have no place in the LDS culture." This Halloween season each good, faithful member of the church might ask themselves which is the source feeding certain types of Halloween decorations and costumes... movies and TV shows? What kind of spiritual activity do people think goes on in haunted houses, places where horror movies are shown, or homes where dark Halloween decorations are displayed? Does God inspire these things? If the adversary is as real as we purport to believe, why would anyone want to give him greater influence than he already has?
The thrill of being afraid can be addicting, and this is certainly the season fear is promoted over any other. Most LDS should know that "God hath not given us the spirit of fear (2 Tim. 1:7), and yet so many flock to and pay for an opportunity to be surrounded by gruesome props, costumed actors, and music and dialogue meant to promote what the scriptures clearly teach us is not of God.
What easier way for evil spirits to possibly gain access into our lives than through doors we've opened and created ourselves?
Because of a heightened awareness over the last several years and the knowledge and understanding gained from my studies for my webpage, I have become highly sensitive to certain things I never used to pay much attention to. That darkness of which I am now much more keenly aware is rapidly intensifying and noticeable in so many areas of life. I heard mention of this throughout General Conference this past weekend.
For this reason, two years ago, my family and I decided we were going to get rid of all aspects of this season that promoted darkness and fear, and instead focus on the beautiful and pleasant aspects of the Fall season we love so much. We spend Halloween decorating pumpkins and cookies, swimming, watching a good family movie, going out to eat, and spending quality time together. This season I make my favorite pumpkin treats, and enjoy the gorgeous changing colors. As a family we will be looking for opportunities to serve others by raking leaves and feeding the homeless. The Fall season is a wonderful opportunity to eschew darkness and replace it with light. Self-evaluation is healthy and now is always a good time to ask ourselves how we're doing with the increasingly crucial promotion of good and light over the increasingly growing darkness that seems to daily become more casual, more subtle, and more widely accepted by society.
"...we are living in an age in which the Father in heaven has deigned to visit his children, making himself known by declaring his law and his word, by his own mouth and by his own presence. If we could always realize this, it appears to me that we would place greater reliance upon the words of eternal life which have come unto us; we would thereby be induced to live so near to the Lord, and be so faithful in the discharge of our duties, as the covenant people of God, that our hearts would burn with grateful joy, we would be inclined to that which is pleasing and acceptable unto the Lord, all the day long, and we would eschew even the appearance of evil." (JD 19:258 Elder Joseph F. Smith)"
