BYU won two games by Hail Mary, and was almost able to win a third like that. But as we saw with Michigan, you have to be in the whole game or a Hail Mary won't make a difference. BYU is #1 in SOS. Sure, we aren't world beaters, but except for Michigan, we've been real good.

Utah beat week one Michigan, and who else? Utah State in a tight game? Fresno state? A down Oregon (although to be fair, the margin of victory is still impressive)?

I don't think the gap is as wide as you're making it out to be.
