"Regression" or "Plateauing" is part of the course for college athletes
The spurts and jumps in performance are the most noticeable, but plateaus and periods of regression are all part of the course for pretty much any collegiate athlete.

Tanner has looked better earlier than he has in recent games, but it does not mean he is regressing in talent or ability. Defenses adjust to his style, including shutting down the easier throws and reads and keying to take away down his preferences and strengths. Every coach worth his salt in strategy will do this. That said, experience is the only thing that takes performance up a notch. You see more plateauing and regression in freshmen and sophomores than in juniors and seniors because scheming and strategizing against them has more effect than it does in seasoned athletes with experience.

I would love to see Taysom come back and take the field, he's one of my favorite BYU athletes ever. That said, Tanner will be just fine and his regression or plateau is all part of the curve. He's going to be very good.
