Utah AD advertises with them is why.
Utah has been known the threaten to pull media $$$ from local stations over coverage they think is harsh. BYU does not really advertise with any of them, so gets no such kid glove treatment.
In other words, the local medias guys can be bought. And have been. They hedge when it comes to Utah because they do not want to lose the ad $$$.
