The Dude doesn't know a thing nor does anyone else at this point in terms of how things will end up.

That said, I'm beginning to accept a full blown invite to a P5 conference is unlikely. The Big 12 is the only realistic shot and it's pretty much already committed to head East with expansion.

BYU should accept this and make the most of independence for the long term. That means a full-on effort to get better access to the NY6 and playoff similar to Notre Dame ... Hire lobbyists, get Orrin Hatch and other officials to help the cause, and do whatever possible to put pressure on the powers that be and to push BYU's case.

In addition, BYU should try to get a scheduling agreement with one or more P5 leagues. Get the conferences to agree to a certain number of games against BYU each year.

Independence would be great if BYU could get real access to the NY6 and a set number of P5 games each year (at least 6).
