Not at all
Saban comes to Baton Rouge. Saban wins National Title. Alabama isn't a serious contender most years. Saban goes to Tuscaloosa and proceeds to beat LSU's butt like the Tigers were a rented mule.

That doesn't sit well in the Bayou State.

LSU is a lot like Ohio St.--there is no other in-state power in a place filled with talent. Scores of elite players are brought up on LSU, and if you own home state, you're well on your way to national prominence. David Pollock on Game Day pointed this out. At LSU, if the program is coached properly, you really should produce high-level contenders on a pretty regular basis, even when competing in the SEC. Tuscaloosa has no particular advantage over LSU, and Saban is just killing Miles; head to head, it's even worse. Saban has been in our playbook since bouncing LSU from the National Title game in embarrassing fashion.

Could LSU do much worse than Miles? Definitely. The guy has a title and a BCS title game to his name since arriving in Baton Rouge. LSU could end up worse off. But getting curb-stomped by your rival earns you a short leash in the biggest programs in the nation.

I actually think Miles should get next year to right the ship. He's been successful enough to at least merit a "make or break" year. But if he's pressured out now, it isn't as crazy as it sounds were one to just look at his overall record.
