Georgia vs. Georgia Tech. Clemson vs. South Carolina. L'ville v. UK.
Etc. etc. There are old, famous out-of-conference geographic rivalries that play all over the place this weekend and we're not one of them because of Utah's apparent petty spitefulness to put BYU "in it's place."

You can't just create a rivalry out of wholecloth, it takes alot of history, blood, sweat, tears, adversity, and yes . . . good old-fashioned hate to make it just right. IMO, we have one of the top 10 rivalries in the country and Yewtah wants to &*#$ it away because they now think they're above playing an out-of-conference rival in November.

Above what? Clemson is the #1 team in the country. And Yewtah has nothing on Clemson or Georgia in the history or tradition annals -- not even close. They're more equivalent to an upstart like Louisville, a program that seems to have no qualms about playing Kentucky this weekend -- the last weekend in November -- even thought L'ville is in the ACC and UK is in the SEC.

Some things, like historic, geographic CFB rivalries, are more important than petty conference affiliation vanities and separate CFB from pretty much any other sports competitor out there IMO, including the NFL. Real P5 programs don't seem to be afraid of playing these games, but our rival happens to be a program that would have been perpetual MWC trailer trash if it had not won the collective lottery of the 2002 Olympic Stadium renovation, Urban Meyer's career advancement residency, and the narcissim of the University of Texas, all within less than a decade.

I don't care if we've lost to Utah 4 times in a row, I would never back down from the opportunity to rub their faces in the turf, 2015 Las Vegas Bowl included, even though our recent history has not been so great. I'll always want to rub their faces in it on the last week of November -- even if we'd lost 20 in a row -- because it's BYU vs. Utah. This rivalry has earned it. Instead, we're left playing these de facto pillow fights with Utah State and Colorado because Yewtah thinks they're all that.

They're not.

GO COUGS.
