Your Annual "Pick a Coach"
So, you think you have Bronco all figured out, and you're sure that you're either a Bronco Hater, or Bronco Apologist. I would invite you to go to this site and find the best coach for BYU. (http://www.coacheshotseat.com/WinningestActiveCoachesIA.htm)

Just scroll through the names and look at their winning percentage overall (Ken N. at Navy for example) and see what they are doing now and for their overall career. Bronco has a .700 winning percentage which puts him at 27th out of 128 coaches. Remember, whoever you would choose would have to be committed to the priorities established by the Board of Trustees, namely the following:
1. The program must represent the Church at all times.
2. The athlete must be willing to live an Honor Code that is what it is - You can't do many of the things that are okay at other schools (Drinking, smoking, sex, drugs (mainly pot), and partying that goes along with all of these vices).
3. The athlete must be able to qualify for a higher academic standard.
4. The athlete must be able to maintain passing grades against a current incoming freshman GPA of 3.8 and ACT of 29.
5. The athlete doesn't have to be Mormon, but will be a minority as they probably have never experienced before.
6. You have to maintain a program where you recruit many players (over 40 currently serving) to play football for you and right at their peak you send them off for two years to some area to work as a missionary. (If you have served a mission, you know how little real exercise and football focus a missionary really gets. As for the age benefit, that is it, they get older, and hopefully wiser, but it will usually take at least a year to get their skill set back, if they can at all).

Well, enough of my invitation. I've been a BYU fan since 1970 and have been there through incredible seasons and some pretty low years. I'm not saying that I am wholeheartedly on the Bronco support train, but I'll tell you, the list of men who can handle this coaching position, and do it well, is pretty minimal. Winning 70% of your games is not too shabby, but no, Bronco hasn't won a NC just like a bunch of other quality coaches on the list.

For other fun insights look at the bottom of the coaching list and look for the P5 schools. I can tell you I wouldn't want to go through what any of those schools do.
