...they wouldn't be getting those offers if they weren't p5 caliber players. That's just a huge myth that get perpetuated. We have p5 talent, problem is we settle too often for non p5 talent in key areas like the OL and the DL and fill the roster/depth chart with marginally talented walk-ons.
We used to get a ton of NFL guys on our OL, not just during the Lavell days but even during Crowton's time. He left the cupboards full of NFL talent on the OL for Bronco. Problem is once those guys left the program after the 2009 season Bronco has failed miserably at recruiting this position group and every year we read about the team's struggles to protect the QB and/or get any push up front for a consistent running game. Fortunately we've been able to mask some of those problems with a wonder kid QB with NFL legs that we abused and abused.
With Anae's return and his hiring of 2J, I'm hoping we see some talent and depth continue to return to this important position. Owning the OL and DL is a big reason why Utah owns us right now.
