Their problem is 98% of the time the product is shady

The only way the business can mange the pyramid payout system and be profitable is to have crazy margins and the easiest way to get those is to sell a snake oil type product that people think are going to magically heal them and the over the top pricing is worth it.

Essential oils margins are unreal... see similar things with all these magical super fruit drinks and skin care products.
