would take so much work to rearrange the system. Just imagine if you were designing things from scratch. No one in their right mind would intentionally choose the current system over a simple 8 to 16-team playoff.

Their are plenty of good arguments about whether 8, 10, 12, or 16 would be the ideal number ... but that's the range we need to be in. I also believe that you have to have autobids for all conference champs so that every team has a pathway to play their way in.
