The discussion on Nick Emery as a frosh got me thinking about Cosic. (“never saw Ainge or Cosic as a freshman”)

Granted it was a different era when Cosic played in the early 1970’s and freshman weren’t even eligible to play varsity. He came to BYU campus already as a Silver medal winning Olympian and national hero. He was not LDS and had to acclimate to the culture as well as literally being stuck on the JV squad. I can only imagine his frustration.

After BYU he went on to be the MVP of the gold medal winning Yugoslavian team in 1980. He was drafted twice because he was such prospect at 6’11” who could pass and dribble. He just wanted to play in Europe and not the NBA. He was the first European to be all-american and inducted into the collegiate HOF.

Anyway. I am stoked about the next few years and to have Emery, Haws, Dastrup and Mika, etc. But can you imagine what a guy with those credentials and potential coming in would do in our information age?
