ScoresBYUCougs Walk-on
Memo to traveling Y fans...
As an avid fan and attender of away games, I find that we as a fan base are lacking in unity and potential impact on the game. With a geographically dispersed fan base, including many who have not attended BYU (including myself), it's important that we meaningfully band together to help our team.

1. Keep cheers simple so that unfamiliar fans can join in. The best is a simple (but loud) "BYU" chant, and do it enough to get scattered fans from around the stadium to join. Without our own announcer, that's about the best we can do, but we can make it loud. There is nothing like a stadium of Texans being out-cheered by the visiting team!
2. Make noise when the other team is on offense, especially on critical downs. Lots. Of. Noise. It really does make it harder for the opponent to communicate, and leads to false starts and other penalties. You may only have one voice, but collectively, we can make a big difference. If united, the fans may have made a difference in the Mizzou game. We were pathetic.
3. Learn the fight song. It's sad to sing after a TD and have hardly anyone join in. If you know it, JOIN IN!
4. Don't be an idiot. We have too many fans that make the university (and the Church) look bad through shows of disrespect. While you may think you are only attending a football game, opposing fan bases associate the fans with the Church (and vice versa). We turn down many (jokingly offered) beers, answer questions about the Church, and have the potential for good. Let's each be good and encourage one another to do the same.

See y'all next season!
