So, I guess next season the argument about Bronco could be resolved
We are going to know how good of a coach he is after the first half of the season. People say he never beats top-quality competition, and this is truly the chance for him to either prove them wrong or right. He has exactly six chances to earn good wins against quality P5 competition. Even if he wins just 3 of those, going .500, he will silence a lot of people. If he wins more, he will prove maybe he can beat good competition. If he wins less, it will vindicate those who say he only wins because his schedule is bad.

I'm going to go ahead and not start the Bronco argument back up again quite yet. The coach will have plenty of chances for proof next season that his bad resume against P5 teams is just small sample size. He is going to have one of his best teams yet, whether Taysom or Tanner starts the season. He will have a senior RB and tons of returning players. After next season, I don't want any more excuses from either side. We are going to see results. And, when those results come out, we will know what he can do. If he proves he can't beat the good teams on the schedule against that measuring stick, I don't think you should have him stick around when we will consistently be facing P5 teams over the next 5 years. If he proves he can beat them, I guess his point is proven and the detractors don't have the ground to stand on.

However, I do think next year he needs to make a point that he can win against our upcoming independent schedules, or BYU will be in real trouble of becoming irrelevant if he can't and still remains the coach.
