An endodontist advised my wife to have a 2nd root canal on the same tooth.
she's had a ton of dental pain and tmj problems over the past year and just wants it pulled so she can replace it with an implant. We know the TMJ isn't really related but its compounded her discomfort.

The endodontist "strongly advised" her not to pull the tooth and do all she could to save it even though the chances of success go down with a 2nd root canal. Whats the point? I can spend a couple grand on another root canal that has a lower success rate, or pay a little more for an implant she never has to worry about. Whats so special about the natural tooth?
