Admitted to hospital Sunday b/c high white blood cell count in urine test so they said she had urinary tract infection (baby had 100.6 feve alsor). Told typical 0-5. Baby was 50+

However after 36 hrs nothing showing/growing in culture. On call dr acts like wb cells in urine due to cold symptoms she also has. But blood work showed no bacterial infection/illness that way. Started her on antibiotics immediately when admitted and fever immediately went away & hasn't returned.

What would acct for high wbc count if not uti? Seems like a waste of 2 days in hospital for a run of the mill cold.
