after gobbling up Star Wars, the Corporate greed machine known as Disney has so ubiquitously flooded every conceivable market with so much Star Wars themed crap, that what was once cultish and strangely cool is now mainstream boring. Star Wars is sadly going the way of Coldplay and hootie and the blowfish--2 pretty solid bands that the public turned against because they just got too popular, and what was once cool became boring and commonplace.
I am sure the new Star Wars movies will be perfect productions, will be well reviewed and will make billions of dollars. But like the 300 dollar pair of "distressed jeans", I predict the new movies will lack a certain authenticity that made the original movies so beloved. They will most certainly lack the schticky camp, unintentional humor and choppy production that is so beloved in the originals.
We shall see, but I predict that the general populous will grow quite tired of Star Wars in another year or two.
