I'm really excited for next season. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but...
I can't remember the last time we have supplemented with as much talent in a single season as we will next season. Eric Mika, Yoeli Childs, Elijah Bryant, TJ Haws -- I think next year's team will have a much hungrier vibe, won't be as soft as this year's squad.

As much as I love KC, Nate Austin, Chase Fischer, etc. I believe their greatest weaknesses are leadership, energy levels, and overall killer instinct. We see flashes of that all the time, but who is our consistent guy that comes through and executes when we're on the wrong side of 7-0 run? To me, it seems like Kyle Davis fills that role the most this year, which doesn't seem quite right. Tyler Haws was our guy last year. Reliable, go-to when we're in trouble. Was not much of a vocal leader, but consistently led with his performance on the floor when it mattered.

While Nick Emery hasn't been able to hit his shots consistently, he has that killer instinct and will grow into the execution part of it. His chemistry with TJ Haws will be apparent. Mika is a great leader and morale guy, with so much more talent on the block than anyone we've had since Davies. Yoeli and Elijah are extremely athletic by BYU standards, and their energy levels just seem higher than just about anyone we have on the floor. The future is bright.

I love this team and will follow them devotedly for the remainder of the season, but my interest in next season probably surpassed my interest in this season for the first time today. Hope this team can win the conference tourney and reverse that for me.

Also I drowned my sorrows from today's loss in one of those 44oz Sodalicious Mountain Dew mixes, so you probably shouldn't trust any of my opinions.
