When Wrubell suggested that the team now needs to prove it can bounce back from adversity, Rose dryly responded in effect:
"This team is good at bouncing back from adversity; the problem is there have been too many opportunities to do so."
He went on, "there is some kind of a flaw with this group that makes it unable to sustain success. The talent is there." Rose added that he takes full responsibility and will try to figure out how to remedy it.
I am also pleased with Fischer's improvement overall, the individual contributions of Davis, and admire the incomparable Collinsworth. Increasingly clear that Haws, Winder, Halford, and Sharp were not only good players, but chemistry enhancing.
On the one hand, on paper the WCC tourney looks up for grabs among four teams, BYU included. OTOH, even Dave Rose sounds like he'd be surprised if this group turns out to be the one to bring him something he has never achieved, a conference tourney championship.
It could still happen.
