Some CBers will say Taysom ran the ball too much. Other CBers will say that Tanner threw the deep too much and let his players jump up for it.
My opinion is that you had an OC who ran a couple of routes and when the opposing team started to jump the same 5 routes he fell back on what was easiest. Playing to the strength of the QB. Anae just called for Taysom to run the ball......20 carries a game for a QB? or you kidding me. Tanner strength is rolling and throwing a catchable deep ball. Just in the last Utah game, Utah was jumping the usual BYU routes and running the DL's in the passing lanes. They knew every stinking play coming as did most teams by the end of the season......then Anae basically just let Tanner use his natural talent and guys ran deep. That Utah game was pathetic that we scored 28 points by basically running guys deep every play. There was no offense being run by BYU.
Let's hope Detmer actually runs an offense to attack a specific weakness of the opposing defensive scheme. We needed a breath of fresh air offensively very badly. I think Tanner and Taysom will both be completely different players under Detmer.
