Help with a batch renaming task for video files, please!
I hit up the board the other day asking for recommendations for software that will batch rename files by date. A few people suggested Irfanview, which I tried and it works just fine for photos - jpgs etc, but isn't working for any of my video files. Sadly, google is of little assistance.

I downloaded (I think) all of the plugins for it, but the placeholders don't grab the "created date" that's attached to the files. I know it's there because it shows me the correct date under properties, but it appears that the video files don't use the same exif formats (or call them the same things or something) as do jpgs.

Does anyone know what tool I can use that will go into the video metadata and find the created date, then use it to batch rename? I'd REALLY not like to do it all by hand, as there are hundreds of files (from multiple devices, actually, only adding to the complexity). Any guesses as to whether I'd need different code for each different device's videos (if it's AVI files, f.ex., from off of two different cameras, would the date be stored in the same location in the file because they're the same file type, or would they be stored in different locations if one camera was a canon, f.ex., and the other camera was a nikon?)?

Thanks for any help you might have.
