Know a couple of people who interviewed at the Austin location
and I know a couple of guys who have worked at Amazon. Almost universally, the feedback is:

- They pay exceptionally higher than other people
- The culture there is absolutely brutal. If you can handle it, you will thrive, but very few people do.
- High turnover, and very high level of competition between coworkers, zero work-life balance (you are on call 24/7 for work problems)
- The interview process isn't great. I know one guy who interviewed at the Austin site, everybody loved him. But they had to send him to Seattle to interview, and he got stuck in the middle of a turf war with people in Seattle complaining about the Austin site, undermining the people there, and ultimately he didn't get an offer because of some negative feedback that came back from his Seattle visit, even though the people whom he would have been working for loved him. The Austin guys didn't have the authority to give an offer without Seattle approval.
