I may be wrong, but weren't they down by 6 at that time of the fumble?
Recovering the ball gave them a chance to win. Not recovering it sealed the loss.
I get why he didn't try to recover it, I just don't agree with it. BTW Cam, it's a rough sport. You risk injury anytime you step on the field, including when you take off running from the pocket.
