LOC on Investment Property or loan against 401k?

Need to do one to help with a down payment (stupid CA real estate). Loan against 401k so I just pay myself right?

I would personally do the 401k because worst case scenario it just becomes a

Letter of Credit. The lOC is probably for a face amount far less than the equity
