I'm missing the metaphor?
I think if cake is women, then the more recently the cake is out of the oven would be the most important.
if the frosting is spirituality then, yes it is important but a cake that is fresh out of the oven and burns to the touch overcomes most less than perfect frostings.
a cake sitting on the counter drying out really does no one any good even with the most delicious frosting on earth

Cake with no frosting is better than cake with frosting 90% of the time. Good frosting is great, but it is just so rare.
