My wife watched a friend's child off-and-on last year and was paid about $4,000. How exactly do we report this income? Do the parents need to provide us a 1099-Misc or some equivalent? I believe they will be claiming the $4,000 as a deduction.

I use Turbo Tax online to file my tax return.
