I think it's a good idea. Not smart to run spring camp with Tanner as the #1 guy, only to have

to solve a competition for starting QB in fall camp. I think if Taysom comes back it should be known before spring, so that he and Tanner can duke it out then. By the time fall comes around both QBs will have a better idea of their role and will be able to practice for it more consistently.
