Loan question. We accepted automatic withdrawal to lower interest rate. My wife
Swears up and down that she thinks this is actually costing us money rather than saving us money. What she was doing was paying the payment that was due a couple weeks early and noticing that she was paying more toward principle when she did that. She's convinced paying each payment early was saving us money each and every time... But now that it comes out "on time" we are no longer getting this supposed benefit and even with a lower interest she thinks it may be costing us because this time around more was payed to interest and less to principle. Is she correct? Or is it in our best interest to lower the interest rate with automatic withdrawal? Is there any benefit to paying each loan payment a couple weeks before it is due?
