Being a former middle infielder myself, I found that about 10 years ago, the
defense in triple A, (I live in SLC and see a lot of triple A) dropped quite a bit. Before that it used to be almost on par with MLB, and then the game began to favor hitters with a sub par glove. It got to be so bad one year I quit taking my nephew to games to learn anything about playing the infield. It has gotten better in recent years.
