It gives BYU a C, solely because, "Sitake did play at BYU and understands coaching in the state of Utah, but the Cougars whiffed on their first target for the job. That makes Sitake a less comfortable hire." The problem here, the "whiff", if it actually was one, it isn't clear that BYU wanted him if you listen to some rumors, ran the completely wrong type of offense for BYU and allegedly wanted to bring it to BYU. It also seems clear it was as much, or more, and ecclesiastical hire as it was a coaching hire.
What makes the grade crazier is Will Muschamp being hired by South Carolina got a C+, despite his failure as a head coach at Florida. I also find it interesting they gave Virginia an A- for hiring Bronco. In some ways I can't fault the grade, he did win at BYU; on the other bringing pretty much his entire football staff with him from BYU should raise some major red flags.
