Let's clear the air on Taysom.
The back and forth on this has me looking back fondly on the many etertaining and polarizing discussions on Bronco. The fanbase seemed totally divided. Recent threads and articles about Taysom have brought out similar contention on CB, which is ridiculous, because I really don't understand how there is anything polarizing the fans with Taysom.

No fan WANTS him to leave. Period.
He is probably the best athlete to ever play at BYU IMO. And has earned the respect of teammates, coaches, opponents, and fans. Mancrushes all around really. He is a great dude, amazing athlete and competitor, and his talent is undeniable. His injuries have been devastating and have lowered his ceiling considerably. But he deserves to be on the team and deserves the chance to compete for the starting job.

What irks me are the dingle berries on here that think he should be handed the starting spot before he is even out of his freakin walking boot. And then go on to discredit what Tanner did for us his last year. Pointing out all the freshman mistakes he made and making ridiculous predictions about a 'sophomore slump'. These things make me feel violent.
Tanner set freshman records, won 9 games, and STAYED healthy. He was thrown into action on a big stage, less than 3 months after getting home from his mission. His improvement over this offseason will be crazy. Consider the difference a full year of conditioning/training, studying film, and working with his skill players will make for Tanner. His talent and potential as a QB is higher than any we have had for a very long time. He also deserves to compete for the starting spot. Part of me honestly wants him to get it, but not at the expense of seeing what could be with Taysom.

The only solution is an open QB competition. If Taysom beats out Tanner and leads our team next fall I would be pumped, and I think Tanner would stick around. No question the team is much better with both guys on the roster. And leaving it an open competition will only make both QB's better.
Luckily this is exactly how Ty plans to find his starting QB.
